生物活性：雌三醇是雌激素受体阴性乳腺癌细胞中 G 蛋白偶联雌激素受体的拮抗剂。目标：雌激素受体/ERR 最近的一项研究表明，雌激素（雌酮、雌二醇和雌三醇）可抑制阿尔茨海默病相关的低阶 Aβ 寡聚体形成，其中，雌三醇显示出最强的体外活性
[1]。在 mPTEN+/- 小鼠中，雌三醇处理导致子宫湿重与体重的相对比率增加 187.54%；雌三醇还在野生型小鼠中将比率增加到 176.88%
[2]。雌三醇处理（20 mg/kg ip）在体内通过依赖于 CD14 增加的机制使 Kupffer 细胞对 LPS 敏感，原因是大鼠肠道通透性增加导致门静脉血内毒素升高；而在注射亚致死剂量的 LPS (5 mg/kg) 之前 24 小时腹膜内给予雌三醇的大鼠中有一半在 24 小时内死亡
