In Vitro: Lucinactant (140 μL; 24 h ａnd 72 h) provides anti-inflammatory protection compared with an animal-derived surfactant ａnd saline control over 72 h of moderate hyperoxia.
Lucinactant (140 μL; 24 h) reduces IL-8 ａnd IL-6 secretion compared with normal saline in hyperoxic exposed Calu-3 monolayers.
Lucinactant (140 μL; 24 h) decreases swollen nuclei ａnd intracellular vacuoles in Calu-3 cells after 24 ａnd 72 h of hyperoxia.

In Vivo: Lucinactant (175mg total phospholipid/5.8 mL/kg; intratracheal medication; single dose) attenuates pulmonary inflammatory response, preserves lung structure, ａnd improves physiologic outcomes in a preterm lamb model of respiratory distress syndrome (RDS).
