The NOTA-PEG11-N3 (NOTA eleven polyethylene glycol azide) PEG chain provides steric hindrance ａnd hydrophilicity, which improves the solubility ａnd biocompatibility of the compound. Azides can be conjugated with terminal alkynes using copper catalyzed Click chemistry, or with cycloalkynes using copper free strain promoted azide cycloaddition of alkynes (spAAc) reaction.
