在有防爆要求的特种场所使用的某些电气设备，如粉末粉尘车间、化工厂、石化工厂的高功耗用电设备降温等，都需要制冷设备进行制冷降温。
防爆电机和普通电机的不同只是在防爆等上，工艺流程基本一样。防爆等如何主要取决于设计的时候出来的方案，生产的时候采用特殊的工艺结构防爆就可以了。
青金制冷机械公司制造的防爆冷气冷风机、冷油机、冷水机壳体内泵浦以及风机均采用防爆电机。温控电气的电路板控制器，在制冷机内设有密封的防爆电箱盒，但考虑到制冷机的压缩机没有防爆的电机，需做防爆处理才能使用。市面上大多制冷用的压缩机采用有刷电机，以确保输出扭矩，保证压缩性能，而有刷电机容易产生火花，需要进行防爆设计才能用于防爆场合。
冷却机(冷水机）介绍
QX-EP系列冷水机主要由防爆处理压缩机、冷凝器、热力膨胀阀（或毛细管）和蒸发器四大部件组成，采用单蒸气压缩制冷系统，利用制冷剂的气液相互转换，吸收和释放热量的原理，达到制冷的效果。
QX系列开机后
（1）压缩机开始工作，制冷剂在压缩机的压缩作用下变成高压高温气体，往排气侧的方向循环；在循环过程，高压高温的制冷剂气体通过冷凝器。
（2），与空气发生热交换，由气态转变为液态，同时被空气带走热量；冷媒冷却过程，液态的高压冷剂通过热力膨胀阀（或毛细管）。
（3），压力下降，部分制冷剂由液态装变为气态，此时制冷剂为液态和气态两相混合的状态；冷媒节流过程中，制冷剂通过蒸发器。
（4），在蒸发器内与冷冻水发生热交换，冷却冷冻水到所需的温度，满足设定要求；经蒸发器后的气体制冷剂循环回到压缩机，完成一次制冷循环。
