螺旋式砂水分离器适用于污水处理厂（站）的沉砂池，是污水处理中处理砂水混合液的设备。砂水混合液从分离器一端顶部输入水箱，混合液中类似于砂粒等比重较大的杂质沉积于槽形底部，在螺旋叶片的推动下。砂粒沿斜置的U型槽底提升，离开液面后继续推移一段距离，在砂粒充分脱水后经排砂口卸至盛砂桶，而与砂分离的水则从溢流口排出，达到砂水分离的目的。另外，砂水分离器进水口处还可设置一圆筒式旋流预分离器，污水沿圆筒切线方向进入涡流使砂粒下沉进入螺旋分离器，溢流液回沉砂池或格栅井，起到预沉砂及调节水量的作用,提高砂水分离器的分离效果。。

操作流程
无轴砂水分离器适用于要求经过过滤出水浊度一般在5毫克/升以内能符合饮用水水质标准的工业用水或生活用水的工矿企业和城镇给水处理设备。对工业污水中的悬浮物固体物等有去除效果。水中含有的悬浮物凝聚的片状物用沉淀方法所不能去除的粘结胶质颗粒，可将水通过压力滤器内所装的滤层，使水达到透明。
