除了协助产业升级转型以外，在面对国际经济快速整合，台湾也应该积极的与其他国家洽签FTA，中国大陆是目前全球商机最大的市场，与中国大陆签署ECFA协议就是其中最重要的一步。除了中国大陆，我们应该还要努力的与其他国家洽签FTA，目前亚太地区最主要的两个区域经济整合分别为「跨太平洋伙伴协议」（TPP）及「区域全面经济伙伴协议」（RCEP），另外由于信息科技不断演进更新，工具机在IT领域的应用逐渐受到全球的重视，自2012年初开始展开的信息科技协议（ITA）扩大谈判，也将对工具机产业之发展产生影响，我国若能加入TPP、RCEP或ITA扩大之范围，等于同时与数个重要贸易伙伴签署自由贸易协议，可避免被排除在亚太区域经济整合趋势之外。因此，无论是TPP、RCEP、ITA、ECFA货贸等，对于高度仰赖对外贸易的台湾都非常重要，每一项都不能放弃。
