MTSY-27型氙弧灯耐气候试验箱是以氙灯为光源，模拟和强化耐候性加速光老化的试验设备，以快速获得近大气老化的试验结果，用来评价材料的耐候性。耐候试验是科研生产过程中筛选配方优化产品组成的重要手段，也是产品质量检验的项重要内容应用材料如涂料、塑料等产品标准均要求做耐候性试验。
造成材料老化的主要因素是阳光和潮湿。耐候试验箱可以模拟由阳光、雨水和露水造成的危害。耐候试验箱利用氙灯模拟阳光照射的效果，利用冷凝湿气模拟雨水和露水，被测材料放置在定温度下的光照和潮气交替的循环程序中进行测试，用数天或数周的时间即可重现户外数月乃至数年出现的危害。人工加速老化试验数据可以帮助选择新材料，改造现有材料，以及评价配方的变化是如何影响产品的耐久性的。
风冷式氙灯耐气候试验箱采用长轴风扇电机，耐高低温之不锈钢多冀式叶轮，以达到强度对流垂直扩散循环。机械底部采用高品质可固定式PU活动轮。观察窗采用多层中空钢化玻璃。
